I wrote The Orange Pill because I needed to understand what was happening to me, to my team, to the world I had spent thirty years building in. The book was my attempt to map the territory as the ground shifted beneath our feet.
But maps are not territory. They are representations, limited by the cartographer's position and purpose. I mapped from the builder's perspective, from inside the exhilaration and vertigo of working with AI at the frontier. I could see the river and the beaver's dam. I could feel the ascending friction. I could measure the productivity gains and the compulsive pull of the tools.
