The company that retains its expanded team and directs the freed capacity toward more ambitious projects, harder problems, deeper user understanding is practicing collective transcendence. The company that treats humans as quality-assurance layers atop machine production is constructing immanence at organizational scale—a workforce that maintains, optimizes, and manages without creating, that executes others' visions without developing its own, that becomes the support structure for systems it did not author and cannot fundamentally redirect.
Immanence and transcendence are Beauvoir's master dialectic, borrowed from Hegelian and phenomenological traditions but given new precision through her analysis of women's historical condition.
