The arithmetic is clean. If five people with AI can do the work of a hundred, why have a hundred? The question presents itself as a measurement rather than a choice, which is precisely the form the technical imperative takes. Edo Segal describes the arithmetic's operation in his own boardroom in You On AI. The investor who argued for headcount reduction was not irrational. His case was coherent, internally consistent, and aligned with the metrics by which quarterly performance is evaluated. Segal chose otherwise.
