The virtue I never thought to inventory was the one being spent down fastest.

Not a skill. Not a competency. Not something that shows up on a résumé or a performance review. A virtue — in the old sense, the Aristotelian sense, the sense that means a stable disposition of character built through repeated practice in conditions that demand it.

I have written extensively in *You On AI* about what AI amplifies. The capability. The reach. The imagination-to-artifact ratio collapsing to the width of a conversation. I stand by every word. But there is a question I kept circling without landing on, a question that nagged at me during those late nights when the exhilaration curdled into something closer to distress and I recognized the pattern
