The capacity to maintain contradictory assessments in simultaneous awareness without resolving them prematurely — a specific intellectual achievement that the

Cognitive holding is the discipline of not choosing prematurely. In genuinely ambiguous situations, where the evidence supports simultaneously valid but seemingly incompatible conclusions, cognitive holding is the capacity to acknowledge that one does not yet know
