Anger: This Should Not Be Happening

The second stage of grief — the emotional expression of a legitimate grievance, directed at arbitrary targets because the loss has no single agent. Kübler-Ross insisted it be heard rather than managed.
When denial begins to crack, what comes through the fissures is heat. Kübler-Ross observed that anger was the stage most consistently mismanaged by institutions, because the anger was treated as a problem to be contained rather than a legitimate emotional response to be heard. In the AI transition, anger takes three primary forms: fury at the technology itself ('AI-generated work is soulless'), moral accusation against the companies ('you did not consider the consequences'), and — most dangerously — self-directed anger ('I should have seen this coming'). Each contains legitimate content, but the intensity reveals that something deeper than the ostensible complaint is at stake.
