I've been building things with AI for years now, and there's a lie I used to tell myself every single day. The lie went like this: I'm the one thinking. The machine just helps me express it.
It's a comfortable lie. You sit down with Claude, you throw out a half-formed idea, and what comes back is sharper, cleaner, more articulate than anything you had in your head. And your ego — that fat, relentless thing Murdoch talks about — it reaches out and claims the output as its own. *Yes, that's what I meant. That's what I would have said if I'd had more time.* But you didn't say it. And if you're honest — really, brutally honest — you're not even sure you thought it.
