The lineage was the thing I had never bothered to trace.
I built my career on the assumption that what mattered was what came next. The next interface. The next platform. The next capability threshold. When Claude Code crossed that threshold in December 2025, I experienced it the way everyone around me experienced it — as a rupture. Before and after. Old world and new.
