The word I kept using was "democratization." I used it in pitch decks. I used it on stage. I used it in You On AI when I described the developer in Lagos, the student in Dhaka, the engineer in Trivandrum. I meant it every time. AI lowers the floor of who gets to build. The expansion is real. The moral weight is real.

Then I read Arturo Escobar, and I realized I had been confusing two completely different operations.

Giving someone a tool is not the same as giving them power over the tool. Distribution is not democratization. Access is not governance. The developer in Lagos appears in my book three times. She never speaks. I invoked her as
